Taxable Payments Annual Report (TPAR)
Does your business pay contractors to provide cleaning or security services?
If so, you may need to lodge a Taxable payments annual report (TPAR), under the Taxable payment reporting system (TPRS), by 28 August each year.
It is more important now than ever to create a fair and equal system for businesses in the cleaning sector and one way the ATO is doing this is through the Taxable payments reporting system (TPRS).
From 1 July 2018 the TPRS started for businesses providing cleaning and courier services, and from 1 July 2019 for businesses providing IT, road freight, security, investigation and surveillance services.
If your business offers new or expanded services (such as those listed above) in response to COVID-19 restrictions and you've been paying contractors to provide these services, you may need to complete aTPAR.
The ATO have created webinars for each service sector to help you know whether your business needs to report and if it does, understand how to prepare, record and report your TPAR.TPAR Webinar - Cleaning services
Keeping good records throughout the year should make lodging easy.
Lodging your TPAR electronically is quick and simple. If you have business software check if it's TPAR ready or check with your software provider. If you don’t have software you can use the ATO online TPAR. Your registered tax professional can also lodge a TPAR on your behalf.
